Why we're building Margins.
I'm Calvin. I'm building Margins because two things about buying and selling classroom resources bother me, and I think they bother a lot of teachers too.
Teachers should keep more of what they earn.
From January 2027, sellers on the biggest marketplace will keep 55% or 77.5% of each sale, and the higher rate comes with a yearly fee and a promise not to sell elsewhere. The work is theirs, and I think the economics should reflect that. On Margins, sellers keep 80% of the price they set, pay no subscription or listing fees, and never have to choose between us and anyone else.
Buyers can't easily tell what's good.
Teachers buy materials for real classrooms, often late at night, with little time to check them. Ratings help, but they don't answer the questions that matter most: does this line up with what I teach, and is it built on practices research supports? That's why every Margins listing shows a grade report: a score for standards and learning science, plus four trust checks, before you pay. It's not a certification or a guarantee. It's an AI-assisted first look, honestly labeled.
Where we are
Margins is in pre-launch. The marketplace is still being built, and we're opening founding-seller spots ahead of launch for sellers who want to help shape it and be featured when we open. If that sounds like you, ask for a spot. If you're a buyer, join the waitlist and we'll email you the day we open.
